Proton Pass is worth considering if you want a password manager and email aliases in one place. Start with Free to check the documented limits against your needs. Plus is relevant when you need more aliases, integrated authentication or recovery options; Family is designed for multiple users.

Security, encryption and open-source applications
Proton describes end-to-end encryption for vault contents, including usernames, passwords and website addresses, using AES-256-GCM. The provider publishes its application code and links to independent security reports. These are useful transparency measures, not a guarantee against every vulnerability or account compromise.
Protect your account and devices, keep recovery information somewhere safe, and understand what a recovery option can restore. Storing passwords and authentication codes in one vault is convenient, but it also concentrates access if that vault is compromised.
What email aliases can and cannot do
An alias forwards mail to your inbox while keeping your main address out of a registration form. For example, use a separate alias for a newsletter and another for a shopping account. This can make unwanted forwarding easier to identify and disable.
An alias is not an anonymous browsing service or a phishing filter that guarantees safety. Disabling one can interrupt password resets or important account messages. Check those dependencies before turning forwarding off.
Free, Plus and Family: the practical differences
Free supports unlimited logins and device sync, ten aliases and up to three integrated 2FA items. Plus adds unlimited aliases and integrated 2FA codes, sharing features and Emergency Access. Family provides Plus features for up to six people with family administration.
The plan table shows the USD annual-billing offers displayed on the official pricing page when checked: Plus totals $35.88 every 12 months and Family totals $59.88 every 12 months. Monthly equivalents are not monthly payment plans. Promotions, taxes, currency and renewal terms can change; confirm the full checkout total and renewal conditions.
Applications, import and daily use
Proton lists desktop apps for Windows, macOS and Linux, mobile apps for Android and iOS, a web app and extensions for major browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Brave. Feature availability can differ between clients. Check the download page for your exact browser and operating system.
A sensible migration starts with a small import, verification of important logins and a recovery plan. Review autofill behavior on your own devices. These are suggested checks, not results of testing performed by StaySecureHub.
Proton Pass compared with 1Password and Bitwarden
Compare Proton Pass with 1Password if household sharing, Travel Mode or paid-only subscriptions matter. Compare Proton Pass with Bitwarden if you are choosing between free tiers, alias workflows and different hosting options.
There is no universal winner. Prioritize the recovery, sharing and platform behavior you need, then check the current subscription terms. Our open-source password manager selection explains the difference between open applications and a complete local or self-hosted workflow.
